Everyone is aware of those pop-ups which are neither text message or audio/video but solve the same purpose of making us aware of what new a company has on offer with its app. Yes, we are talking about Push Notifications – the sometimes annoying beeps and rectangular boxes that come on our screen from time to time reminding us to complete a task or start one.
Preferred mostly because of its targeting feature, they have become a mode to make users work on the app more often, making them loyal on the way. However, sadly because of the widespread use, the amount of interaction has lowered over time, (although this is not a case with the high performing apps)
In this article today, we will talk about the various ways you can work on your notification strategy to get positive responses. Let’s start. But before we do let’s look at one other thing – type of push notifications, which the app developer company will handle on your part.
This type of notification is rolled out on the basis of users’ location, the time they open the app, and sometimes their age group too.
This notification is sent after the user has completed an XYZ task – maybe he’ll be visiting the app for the 3rd time or maybe he left a product in the cart and didn’t check out.
Now that you know the two types of notifications, here are the ways you can use them in your favor –
1.Welcome Them With An Offer
The first notification you send the user sets the tone of what they should expect from you in the future as well. You have to pay attention to your tone here if you are being formal in the first one be formal always if you are using emotion on the first day, keep using it.
What helps here to keeping with the aim of keeping the users engaged with the app and not leave for good, is to offer them something. Give them some discount on the total bill or have a one time plus one offer.
2.For Those Who Leave Mid-Way
You will come across many users who will leave the app without completing an action. It might be anything – check out, forgetting to avail the daily bonus, missed a lesson, amongst others. For them, you will have to send a comeback and finish the process notifications. Because of most of the times, users generally forget to do a process entirely.
You will have to remind them, at all times. In this case, emails don’t work as ideally as the rate of opening the notification on the device is much greater than visiting the inbox and opening an email.
3.For Those Who Have Been Missing
The statement that it is easier to find new users but difficult to keep the existing users interested. This point is only for those who are missing from the app but have not uninstalled it yet. They need to be reminded that they are missed. This is where their past purchase data comes in handy – tell them they are missed and something similar to what they had purchased earlier is available now.
Another thing that comes in handy here is knowing why they left in the first place. Look at your analytics and reviews and find the page or screen which is being left most or those which are making people confused, then fix it.
4.The Last Message (or not the last)
This notification comes after your users have done a task. Send them to thank you note for transacting with you or simply tell them how you value their presence in the app. Now coming to the part where you ensure that this is not their last interaction with your app.
Give them a reward – an offer or discount on their second purchase or ask them to refer friends in return for which they’ll get more discounts.
5.The Transactional Message
Do not keep your users visit the website or the depth of app to check the status of their order. Notify then when the payment is made, when an order is shipped, when it’s out for delivery, and even when it’s in some nearby city. Just keep them informed of their orders’ whereabouts, it will be much appreciated.
The best part is that these statutes are readily available in the database and the message doesn’t need much customization.
So here we are at the end of the article which talked about the ways you can use the notification to your advantage. Let us start now.
